Snowy peaks, plunging rivers, flower-clad valleys, great trekking trails, paragliding, river rafting – there is not much you can’t find in this state. From Shimla, India’s summer capital during the British Raj to McLeod Ganj, the Dalai Lama’s home away from home; from the meadows of Khajjiar to the snow-clad passes of Manali – Himachal is truly an adventure lover’s paradise.

Day 1

When you reach Chandigarh, proceed to Shimla. Enroute, visit Pinjore Gardens. After reaching the city, check-in at your hotel. Spend the evening sightseeing around the Mall area.

Day 2

After breakfast, leave for a day’s excursion to places around Shimla such as Golf Course at Naldehra, High altitude Zoo at Kufri and Chail Palace at Chail. Return by late evening for an overnight stay.

Day 3

On day 3, proceed to Manali via Mandi. Since it is a long drive, after arrival and check-in, spend the evening at leisure.

Day 4

On day 4, after breakfast, go for some local sightseeing. Visit Hadimba Temple, Vashisht hot water springs, Manu Temple and Arjun Gufa. Spend the evening, relaxing at your hotel.

Day 5

After breakfast, embark on a half-day excursion to Rohtang Pass. On the way back, visit Solang Valley, the hub of adventure sports in Manali. You may enjoy adventure sports such as Paragliding, Zorbing etc. If you are visiting during the winters, you will be delighted to see the the Solang Valley as a Ski resort.

Day 6

Post breakfast, leave for a day’s excursion to Kullu Valley and Manikaran hotwater springs and Manikaran Sahib Gurdwara. You may also visit Jana waterfalls, a perennial waterfall at 40 kms from Manali. It is recommended to also have lunch at one of the Dhabas around here. Return to your hotel in the evening.

Day 7

After breakfast, proceed to Dharamshala. Visit Norbulingka Institute for a memorable experience of the Tibetan cultural heritage. Return to your hotel in the evening for an overnight stay.

Day 8

Post breakfast, visit McLeod Ganj and explore the Dalai Lama Monastery and the Bhagshunath Temple. Visit local street markets for Tibetan artefacts. Naddi Area, near Cantonment, has one of the best Himalayan views of the area.

In the evening, head to Chinmaya Tapovan, an ashram complex established by the late Swami Chinmayananda. Return to your hotel for a good night’s sleep.

Day 9

Post breakfast, leave for Dalhousie. Once there, you may check-in at your hotel and head out to explore the local markets and places such as Churches in Dalhousie, Panchpula or Sat Dhara (confluence of 7 streams; it’s said to have a medicinal effect).

Day 10

Post breakfast, leave for a full day excursion to Khajjiar Meadows, Chamba, riverside pilgrim centre and Chamera Lake. Enroute, visit Barkota hills. Return to your hotel by late evening.

Day 11

Proceed to Chandigarh. After check-in at the hotel, proceed to the Sukhna lake for boating. Return to your hotel and stay overnight.

Day 12

After breakfast, leave for a sightseeing tour. Visit the Rock Garden and the Rose Garden. Also visit the vibrant markets of Chandigarh for some great shopping. Retire for the day.

Day 13

The day you bid farewell to the beautiful city. Leave on time for Chandigarh airport, collecting beautiful memories on the way.
